Ridge Hill transmitter serving north Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Herefordshire  goes digital only on 6th  and 20th April 2011.    Work starts at midnight on 5th and 19th April and should be completed by 6am.

If you live in North Gloucestershire or get your TV signal from the Ridge Hill transmitter  ( you get “Midlands Today” local news)  then  this affects you.

Following the switchover you may find you have difficulty in receiving ITV3 and ITV4 and other commercial channels.  This may be because you are receiving your signal from a relay station rather than Ridge Hill.  Relay stations do not broadcast the full range of digital TV services.

You may also find you are receiving the “wrong” regional news. This may be because you are receiving a stronger signal from another transmitter. It may be possible to manually tune your TV or digibox to receive the regional programmes you want.  Relay stations may not have their conversion work completed until after mid-day.

Churchdown transmitter which has been broadcasting the analogue channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV, C4, FIVE)  switches off completely. If you get your signal from it you may have to have your aerial re-aligned to Mendip or Ridge Hill.
